My self care routine

Hello there! To all of my hard working, beautiful, boss women out there; this one’s for you. Do you ever feel like you’re chasing time? Ever feel so busy that you can never take a moment out of your chaotic week to treat yourself or do something you enjoy doing? YUP! I completely understand. I work a full time job (tuesday-saturday) 👩🏽‍💻, I have a home to keep clean, I have to get creative with dinner 🥘 , I have a man to love 🧔🏾, I have to make sure to fit in time to workout🏋🏽‍♀️, I have dogs to feed and take care of 🐶. And lots more. Now, I hope you caught my drift. Our lives can be so busy with so little time in a day to complete all of those things that self care is almost impossible! So with that being said, you’re probably wondering “how in the world do I make time to take care of myself?” Whether it’s a full day, half a day, or just a few hours, here’s some tips that have worked for me and I hope will work for you as well!

First: Plan your week!

When planning your week out you can either get a notebook or a calendar (whatever works best for you). I personally prefer having a notebook because then I can color coordinate, add little doodles on the sides of my lists (which is the only way I can function) 😂. And then break everything down for the week as follows:

  • Work
  • Workout
  • Dinner
  • Laundry
  • Cleaning
  • Groceries
  • Date Night
  • Self Care

Now that I have everything written down on paper or in my calendar, I now know that I will 100% have time for myself. I made sure that I added that to my priority list of things to get done!

Boom! It’s Self care time!

My self care routine in covid season now consists of:

  • sleeping in. This is a must for me!! 💤
  • Giving myself a mani/pedi 💅🏽 because I still don’t trust going to the nail salon 🤷🏽‍♀️
  • Doing a hair and face mask cus ya girl has got to glow!
  • Treating myself to some sushi for lunch 🍣 .. because who doesn’t love them some sushi?!
  • Laying in bed scrolling through social media or watching Netflix
  • Lighting my favorite scented candles 🕯
  • Blasting my favorite music 🎵 cus ain’t nobody around to tell me nothin! 💃
  • Relaxing in a nice, hot bath with the candles lit, worship music playing, and a nice cold cup of chai tea latte!

What does your selfcare routine look like?



Can I get a raise of hands of all you basic food eaters? ✋🏽 Yup, I’m right there with you! Before I met this amazing man I was someone you could call “basic” when it comes to food. I prefer to eat home cooked meals because obviously it’s healthier for you, you are able to get creative, find new recipes to go with whatever you are craving that day, and you save money! I don’t know about you but I LOVE to save money! The days no one feels like cooking and we just want a quick bite, you would catch me at Chick-Fil-A (obviously, because who doesn’t eat chick-fil-a at least once a week), PDQ (when you get tired of chick-fil-a 😂) , Chinese takeout ( They have BOMB Crab Rangoon), and Spanish takeout (just because it’s spanish food). That’s pretty basic, right!? Well, thank the Lord for blessing me with a man that encourages me to step out of my comfort zone on the daily and try anything and everything he tries.

Ever since we met he has taken me to Chuy’s, Capital Tacos, Koto, Harvest Bowl and many other places. Has he ever let me down? NOPE! I fall in love with almost every spot he takes me to. You know that saying people usually say when you enter a new relationship? “OH, you’re going to gain that happy weight!” Well let’s be honest… that statement is COMPLETELY TRUE! Before I met this handsome man I was super into fitness, working out 1-2 times a day and then… I met him and In the first 4 months of us dating I gained that happy weight! Am I mad about it? Nope! Not at all. I was able to spend quality time with him and some dope food 😂.! If you ask, me I got the best of both worlds!

Now that you know my basic food spots and some of my new food spots, what’s some of your spots that you go to on a daily/weekly basis and some new grub spots that you have recently discovered and loved? 😁

Unexpected coffee

I’m stuck. I’m sitting here staring at a picture that I took of coffee thinking about what in the world I could possible say. Then, it hit me like a rushing wave… I made a New Years goal. My goal for 2020 is to travel to different coffee shops all around. You might be wondering “well why would you want to do that?” This is why: I enjoy coffee but I enjoy the adventure and creating memories more.

This picture is a image that could only be described as a DATE. A date that wasn’t planned by me but that was planned by my boyfriend. A date that was super intentional and focused on the little details. One thing I love is getting creative. Taking pictures, going on mini (lowkey) adventures, and so forth. He put all of that in one. He took me to a bunch of murals around town and took pictures of me.

“Where did this guy come from?” I asked myself. Then, we end up trying a coffee shop that I’ve never tried before. Was it good? Heck yea. Would I go back again? As long as it’s with him. After all of this fun spontaneity I figured “okay we are all done.” Little did I know he had way more plans in store for us.

A walk on a island with a beautiful water front view, sail boats all over the place, and a nice spot of grass to sit down and enjoy the view. Although, that wasn’t the only view he had planned for me to enjoy. Painting on the beach with snacks and a beautiful playlist he created for us to enjoy over the sounds of the waves. This made my heart melt into the ocean.

Behind every picture there is a story. A picture of me hold a glass of iced coffee with hazelnut mixed in ended up being a love story. You would of thought I was going to go ham about different types of coffee. In reality there’s a deeper story behind every image. It’s your turn to find your deeper story.
